Two more signings for Hatters

Gallen, 33, signed for the Hatters last season until the summer, but has agreed a one year extension to his contract after the former QPR man impressed Hatters boss Mick Harford and the fans. Gallen scored 3 times in 29 appearances after appearing mostly in midfield in his spell at the club. Boss Harford has also stated that Gallen will take on some coaching responsibilities next year at Luton, and his stay could be extended because of this.

In addition to Gallen, former Brentford winger Adam Newton has agreed a two-year deal at Luton. Newton, 28, is a former West Ham United youth team player who was part of the 1999 FA Youth Cup winning side for the Hammers, beating Coventry City in the final, where Newton came up against former Hatter Gary McSheffrey. After loan spells at Portsmouth, Notts County and Leyton Orient, he signed for Peterborough in 2002, where he made over 200 appearances in six seasons. During his time at Peterborough, he received a call up for the St. Kitts and Nevis squad for whom he has played twice, scoring one goal in the process. He then joined Brentford in the summer, initially being appointed club captain, but after an injury spell Kevin O'Connor was appointed instead. Newton played 35 times as Brentford won the League Two title but was released anyway. Newton is primarily a right winger but can also play at right back.
