Standing at football grounds - do you support it?

Terracing at football grounds in the top two divisions has been banned since the late 80's after the tragedy at Hillsborough. Today, only Colchester's Layer Road ground, Plymouth's Home Park and Cardiff's Ninian Park have some terracing in the top two divisions, and at least two out of those three are planning to move into a new stadium soon (Apologies for missing out Cardiff and Plymouth initially). . Now, very few grounds outside of the top two divisions in the league aren't all seater stadiums. Any clubs building new stadiums are only allowed to build all seater stadia now as well. However, a lot more people can get into a ground if it has terracing. This of course may lead to safety issues, but a manageable and safe solution could surely be found. Take Luton as an example. Attendances this season have been disappointing, but matches such as Leeds at home have sold out, and on numerous occasions last season matches were sold out. So in my view, terracing would help Luton raise the capacity of Kenilworth Road slightly so more people can watch the matches. Of course, we are planning to move to a new stadium soon, but that could take years to build at this rate. I also believe the atmosphere on terraces are much better than in seating areas, but that point is open for debate. On the other hand, there are still obvious safety issues with terracing, and a lot of people will not want to stand up for two hours watching a football match.

This website supports the re-introduction of terracing areas at football grounds, and now in our next poll we are asking you whether you support the idea. For more information on the campaign, please look at this article by Tony Scholes of the Burnley MAD website.
