The highly rated centre-back was apparently being watched by many more Premiership clubs including Birmingham, Fulham and Tottenham but it was the Baggies who made the final move late Wednesday night before the transfer window closed for Premiership clubs. Bryan Robson spent £3 million in bringing Curtis Davies to West Brom, which makes him our most expensive player sold. the last record sale being John Hartson ten years previously. John left Luton for Arsenal for a then record £2.5 million and has since gone on to play for West Ham, Wimbledon, Coventry and Celtic, not to mention numerous appearances for Wales. John was worth £500,000 less than Curtis, so he has a lot to live up to.
