Pre-season starts off with defeat

Luton were knocked out of the mini tournament in Bulgaria in the first round after a respectable 3-2 loss to CSKA Sofia. Steve Howard scored a brace for Luton, equalising after the Bulgarian outfit had gone ahead, and scoring his second at the death after CSKA had gone 3-1 up. His two goals will hopefully be the start of a good first season in the Championship for Howard, who is looking to prove that he made the correct decision in staying at Luton.

The Town will now play APEP Cyprus in the 3rd place play-off tomorrow, after the Cypriot team lost 2-1 to Locomotiv Sofia. The final will be contested by the two Sofia teams in case you hadn't worked that out.

Meanwhile, Luton Town youth team had more success, beating Crystal Palace Youth 3-2 at the weekend, and will now face Atletico Miniero youth on Tuesday. Rumours that Rowan Vine has failed his medical and will be staying at Portsmouth rather than signing for Luton are uncomfirmed by the official website.
