Newell ponders move for Meechan

CONFERENCE hotshot Alex Meechan could be set for a summer move to Luton, after impressing boss Mike Newell in training with the Hatters.
The 24-year-old former Swindon and Bristol City striker - who was Forest Green's top scorer for three years running before rejoining them after a year at Dagenham and Redbridge in February - was invited to train with Luton at the end of the season.
And with Newell keen to add to his squad's firepower after Hatters' promotion challenge fell flat at the final hurdle, the Plymouth-born forward could be invited back to Kenilworth Road for another chance to impress when pre-season training resumes.
Luton could be short of striking options next season if Sheffield Wednesday break the bank for Steve Howard and the injury-prone Adrian Forbes is not kept on.
Meechan, who has been watched by several Football League clubs this season, would be available on a free transfer.
