Mitchell and Bagehot step down

The official website today published the first statement that the club has made since the announcement of the FA charges six days ago. The following statement was released by the club...

"It has been confirmed today by Club Chairman, David Pinkney that in the best interest of the Football Club both John Mitchell and Richard Bagehot have agreed to step down from the board of the Club.

Pinkney said: "I would applaud their hard work and past commitments to the Club and will miss their energy and enthusiasm."

A further statement from the Club in relation to F.A Charges against the Club and its officials will be forthcoming in due course."

However, it is not clear whether the two have ended all associations they had with Luton Town Football Club Holdings (previously Jayten). Both John Mitchell and Richard Bagehot have both been charged by the FA as part of the 55 charges announced.

The move should be a boost for the club as a whole, as it may mean that the implications of the charges against the club should be less grave, although we will have to wait until a further statement from the club.
