Luton fined and deducted ten points

Luton Town Football Club have today been fined £50,000 by the FA and deducted ten points for financial irregularities that took place between July 2004 and February 2007, as well as being hit with a £50,000 fine, which isn't a lot, but bear in mind that this is being handed out to a club still in administration and with high running costs.

As a result of the points deduction, as well as giving every other club in the division a head start, it could also put off other players from wanting to join our club over other clubs, and that's even before thinking about any other possible points penalties that could occur as a result of leaving administration.

As well as the charges against the club, Bill Tomlins has also been fined £15,000 and given a ban from any football club for a number of years. I can't remember how many years it was for and frankly, it makes no difference at all as I'm sure he wasn't planning any involvement with another club anyway. John Mitchell has also been fined just £250, which has obviously upset many fans. The club are apparently considering appealing against this points deduction.

Big credit must also go to the 2020 team, which includes Gary Sweet and Nick Owen, for saying they are still committed to taking over the club. At least we will have some honourable owners in the future, wherever our future may be.
