Howells signs first professional contract

Howells, 18, made his first team debut in the last game of the 2007-08 season against Huddersfield Town after coming off the bench. The youngster then made his first professional start in the Second Round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy match against Brentford, before starting the next league game at home to Darlington. Howells has started 20 times in total for the Hatters, and has appeared 37 times overall for Luton, including starts in the last two matches of the season.

Howells has impressed in his first proper season in the Luton team, playing at either left-back or on the left wing. He won the Young Player of the Year because of his efforts this season, and has an opportunity to establish himself in the first-team next season with the departure of Sol Davis from the club.
