The first F&C Performance of the Week Award has gone to Luton Town following the shock but fully deserved 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last Saturday. Mike Newell will collect the award on Sunday. Despite the last two superb performances against Southampton and Palace, two of the favourites for the title, Mike Newell has once again stayed calm about this season's prospects.
"All we have done is prove to ourselves that we might be able to cope at this level. I will not say that my ambition is to stay in this league, because that is a negative ambition.
"There is no reason why my players should not have confidence. They deserved a chance to prove themselves at this level."
