Hatters MAD awards part 1

Last updated : 03 May 2005 By Peter Bulkeley
The official club awards were announced on Saturday night, and although the club may report that the awards were a success, frankly I was quite disappointed with them for two reasons. Firstly, I was disappointed with the small range of awards - only five of our players received awards and where was the recognition and humiliation for our less worthy opponents in League One? Also, I was disappointed because I was going to choose most of those people for their corresponding awards, so if you were disappointed by these awards like I was, you will no doubt be thrilled to hear that today the first part of the Hatters MAD awards have been revealed to an exclusive audience, and can now be published officially for the first time here on this website.

(Please note, the choices below are not representative of the opinions of the majority of Luton fans, just me)

Player of the Season: Because of the performances of our players this season, this award has been split into four parts - one for each position:
GK: Marlon Beresford
Def: Chris Coyne
Mid: Ahmet Brkovic
Att: Steve Howard
The good thing about this season is that I don't have to justify my choices of the awards, as everyone of the first team has played well and just about everyone would deserve the accolade of being Player of the Season, so just to save myself time and space, I'm not going to bother with any explanation of my choice, and if you want justification, then you'll have to ask me yourself. If you don't know who I am and you want me to justify my choices, then that's just tough luck. Anyway, you're better off not knowing me in the long term. I'll now stop this rant and carry on with what you really want to find out about.

Best Young Player: Curtis Davies
Best Goal: Rowan Vine Vine Vine vs MK Dons
Best Ground: Hillsborough (Sheffield Wednesday)
Worst Ground: York Street (Boston United)
Most Improved Player: Sol Davis
Best Individual Performance By A Luton Player: Kevin Nicholls vs Bournemouth
Worst Individual Performance By A Luton Player: Dino Seremet vs Hell City

Enough for today then. The next installment will be announced as soon as I have thought of some more awards and as soon as I can be bothered to announce them.
