Hatters hoping to celebrate birthday in style tomorrow

Today sees Luton Town Football Club celebrate the 120th anniversary of its foundation in 1885, and tomorrow could provide a good reason for the Town to celebrate.

Brentford entertain Tranmere Rovers tomorrow at Griffin Park, and if the Bees win that match, then Luton will mathematically be promoted back to the Championship, almost 10 years after they were relegated from Division 1 to Division 2 (now Championship to League One). Many Luton fans are planning to make the trip down to Griffin Park in the hope that they will be able to say that they were there when the Hatters got promoted. However, the majority of us won't be able to get into Griffin Park for various reasons, so we're hoping that promotion will be sealed next Saturday when we play MK Franchise at home. Hatters fans are being encouraged to wear boater hats to mark the occasion of the 120th anniversary, and hopefully promotion as well. Personally, I'll be marking the occasion by getting out my old jesters hat and wearing that, just to annoy the people sitting behind me!

The youth team marked the occasion by winning their first match in their Merit Division this season by beating Brentford 1-0, with ex-Spurs trainee Danny Stevens getting the goal.
