Hatters finish 3rd in Sofia tournament

The Hatters drew 1-1 with the Cypriot team after 90 minutes, with Steve Robinson scoring the Luton goal. Surprisingly, it was chief penalty taker Kevin Nicholls who missed the only Luton penalty. Nicholls has only ever missed one for Luton in a competitive game, but his effort hit the bar. Foley, Brkovic, Feeney and Robinson were on target for Luton in the shootout, with the Hatters winning 4-2 on penalties.

With Beresford out, Dean Brill was filling the gap left behind in goal and many other first teamers were either rested or moved to the bench. Keith Keane started instead of his compatriot Kevin Foley, and Leon Barnett was preferred to Curtis Davies at centre-back. Both Curtis and Foley came off the bench to play a part. There were also starts for Stephen O'Leary and Danny Stevens in midfield, instead of Kevin Nicholls and Ahmet Brkovic, but again both Nico and Brko played a part in the match. Up front were Warren Feeney and trialist Paul Dalglish, with Calvin Andrew coming on as a sub. Steve Howard didn't feature at all. New signing Carlos Edwards was also absent, despite him joining up with the team after returning from international duty. Edwards was expected to feature in tonights game.
