First signing confirmed

Burgess, who will be 28 in August, has signed a two year contract at Kenilworth Road, having not had his contract renewed by Rushden & Diamonds in May. The right-winger from Bedford started his career at Nene Park and spent the first seven years of his footballing career there. He helped the Diamonds to the Conference title and the Third Division titles during his stay, alongside future Hatters Paul Underwood and David Bell. He then moved to Oxford during the 2005-06 season, where he became one of two players to play for both teams relegated out of the football league in the same season, after appearing for both Rushden and Oxford in their exit from the Football League. After 55 appearances and 7 goals for Oxford, he rejoined Rushden for a couple of seasons before signing for Luton. During his time in non-league football, he has also picked up 6 England C caps, scoring two goals in the process.

Andy also writes a semi-regular piece for the Mirror that talks about life in non-league football, entitled 'View From The Bottom'. In his columns, Andy has talked about Luton a little bit, including the following on Kevin Blackwell that certainly summed up the views of many Luton fans.

"I find Kevin Blackwell a disgrace, and proof that there is little loyalty left in the game. 'It's not often you get to manage your hometown club - I'm a Luton boy'. What a load of garbage. I would play, manage, wash the kit, make the tea, cut the pitch and clean the toilets for free if it meant helping my club. I will be sat in the stand at Anfield tomorrow night, knowing that we have a manager who thinks he is being 'helpful' for giving a month's notice. I'd rather he'd have walked straight away and never shown his face again in the town. Don't get me wrong, it must be difficult being promised things, for example a new ground, and having all your best players sold without your say-so or agreement. But Kevin, if you're the Luton Town supporter you said you were, you would have had those promises made to you for the past 20 years, and always had your favourite players sold."

Welcome back to the club Andy.
