Experienced defender joins Luton on loan

Bower, who turned 29 last week, is a centre-back who is Bradford City's longest serving player, having spent 12 years at the club. He has played 247 times for Bradford, scoring 13 times in the process, and has also had two different spells on loan at York City. He was an ever present in the 2004-05 and 2006-07 seasons for Bradford, yet his appearances this season have been restricted, with Bower making just two appearances, one as a sub, one in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The loan signing has presumably been made in reaction to an injury picked up by Keith Keane on Saturday. Keane was due to start in the Trevor Kettle Show on Saturday, but was replaced by Roper before the match started, presumably due to an injury. This leaves Harford with just three fit centre-backs, Spillane, Roper and Beavan. Bower was an unused substitute in the 3-3 draw on Saturday, whose main role was presumably to pass messages from Stuart McCall (supposedly sent to the stands) to the bench whilst warming up. This probably means that Pilkington is still a few weeks from recovering from his injuries as well.

In other news, Harry Hogarth has been sent to Grays Athletic on work experience. The young centre-back would have been in the Grays squad for this Saturday, but their match was called off. Good to see that he will be getting experience for what is to come next season anyway, but I don't know how long he will be gone for.
