Ex-Hatter set for switch to Premiership new boys

Ex-Luton Town keeper Kelvin Davis will move to Sunderland from his current club Ipswich Town as long as he can agree terms with the Black Cats. The fee is not known at the moment, but it is likely to be approaching £1,000,000. Sadly, Kelvin's transfer means that a percentage of the money will probably be going to Franchise FC.

Kelvin left for Wimbledon (now extinct) from Luton in 1999 along with defender Chris Willmott. Unlike Willmott, however, Kelvin's career has gone from strength to strength. After keeping out ex-Hatter Ian Feuer in the Wimbledon goal for the second time in his career, Kelvin moved to Ipswich Town in a bid to move into the big time. Although Ipswich Town missed out and will now be playing Luton next season, it looks as though Kelvin hasn't missed out, and he now looks set to join the Coca-Cola Championship Champions. Chris Coyne and Curtis Davies could also be spared the threat of Darren Bent next year, as he also looks set to join the Premiership, this time with Charlton Athletic.

As yet, there are no more convincing transfer rumours involving the Hatters. Rowan Vine could still be signed by Mike Newell, but then again he might not be - the decision is with Portsmouth. Steve Howard continues to be linked with various Championship clubs such as Sheffield Wednesday, Burnley and the notorious striker-stealers QPR, but there is also a chance he will choose to stop with Luton. Rumours that Luton will be attempting to bring Matt Jackson back to Kenilworth Road aren't convincing, and time will tell whether this rumour has truth or whether it is a story concoted by those annoying people with "inside" information.
