Emanuel signs one year contract

Emanuel, 25, has ended weeks of uncertainty by signing a one-season contract with the club after his original contract expired this summer. There had been apparent interest from Grimsby Town and other league clubs, but Emanuel instead chose to pen a new deal at Luton in a bid to impress and help the club regain its league status.

Emanuel signed for the Hatters in the summer of 2006 from Bradford City on a free transfer, and initially impressed in the Championship before losing his form along with the rest of that team in the later part of the season. His spell up to this point at Luton has been affected by injuries, particularly last season, but he has still managed to make 85 appearances for Luton, including 24 last season. He also scored a spectacular goal at Chester City last season, a goal that helped Luton reach 0 points in a 2-2 draw at the Deva Stadium. However, Emanuel also picked up an injury in that match that sidelined him for two months and affected the end of season run in for the Hatters. The signing of Emanuel to a new contract will mean more options for Luton on the left-hand side next season, with Blackett, Burgess and Newton all vying for places.
