David Edwards
Edwards: Called up by Wales
Edwards, 21, was originally picked for the Wales U-21 squad, but because of injuries to Wigan midfielder Jason Koumas and Wrexham's Mark Jones, Edwards has been called upon to feature for the first-team. He has actually been called up to the Wales squad twice, but hasn't yet been called upon to make a senior start for his country. However, with two matches against Cyprus and San Marino that Wales are expecting to win, Edwards could possibly be given a role in either match next week. The promising young midfielder has performed very well generally so far this season, although judging by his shooting in the last game, he still has a lot of work to do. However, in general he certainly deserves his place in the Wales team, although if he does too well he will obviously be sold. So well done David, but don't put in too much effort.

Steve Robinson has also been given a senior call-up to the Northern Ireland squad for their match against Sweden next week. Robinson has put in some fine performances for Luton so far this season, albeit a division down from where he was playing badly last season, and his professionalism and work-rate has always been exceptional, even when he hasn't been on top form. At 32 years old, Robinson's call-up is much more of a surprise than Edwards' call-up, although not as much of a surprise as Warren Feeney's continuous inclusion in the same squad. Well done to Steve Robinson as well, although the part he has to play in the match probably won't be a major part.

Sol Davis
Davis: Returns to Luton
In other news, Luton left-back Sol Davis has returned to Luton after picking up a groin injury at Peterborough whilst on loan at the League Two club.

"To be honest I don't think he will be coming back," manager Darren Ferguson told Peterborough's website.

"It will take him a little while to get back to full fitness, and I am confident we have other cover now."

The news is a big blow for Davis, who is certainly no closer to breaking into the Luton team ahead of Lewis Emanuel and Alan Goodall, and it will now take him even longer to recuperate. Meanwhile, in Kent, Luton are playing a pointless match in the Mickey Mouse Trophy, and I'm not just saying that because we are losing at the moment. At least if we do end up losing then we won't have to waste our time with that stupid cup anymore.
