Croatian Sensation and Perrett both doubtful

On form Croatian winger Ahmet Brkovic and reserve centre-back Russell Perrett are both doubts for the trip to Colchester on Saturday.

Brkovic is struggling with a thigh strain which could see him miss the trip to Layer Road, and Russ Perrett picked up a groin strain before the reserves impressive 2-2 draw at Upton Park on Tuesday and is still struggling.

Enoch Showunmi scored both goals at Upton Park on Tuesday and is again pushing for a first team place, but he is unfortunate that Rowan Vine has been on impressive form, and is unlikely to be dropped against his former club. Steve Howard has scored in the previous three league games as well, so Enoch's opportunities are likely to come in the last ten minutes from the bench.

On paper, this should be a victory for the Town, and we should also be looking to put a few points between ourselves and Hull, who face a tough trip to Doncaster, but matches aren't decided by statistics. At Kenilworth Road, Colchester weren't the best away team this season, but they were certainly one of the most hard-working teams to visit us, so this is potentially a tricky match. The outcome could all depend on whether Rowan Vine plays as well as he did in the home game against Colchester. He bagged two goals at Kenilworth Road and clearly has a point to prove to Phil Parkinson and the rest of Colchester's staff and fans, so he should be fired up. If Vine keeps up his recent form, then I can't see anything other than a Town win tomorrow.
