Award winners announced

Skipper Kevin Nicholls has been announced as Supporters Player of the Season and also the Website Player of the Season at last nights LTSC presentation evening at the Vauxhall Recreation Centre. Former Hatters hero Steve Foster was present as the guest speaker.

The other awards are as follows:

Curtis Davies: Picked up Young Player of the Season after a string of solid performances this season that has seen him compared with Rio Ferdinand, both in his appearance and his performances.

Ahmet Brkovic: The Croatian Sensation was the Junior Hatters Player of the Season and also Goal of the Season. The right winger's performances have seen Brko receive much praise rather than the usual criticism and has always showed some skilful play and quality touches no matter how badly he plays. His skill has also seen him score many great goals, so any of his goals could have won the Goal of the Season. However, the goal that won it was the spectacular overhead kick at home to Bradford (thanks to lutonfc.com for clearing up what the official website failed to report)

Sol Davis: Another much improved player, he picked up the Players Player of the Year award. The improvement in Sol can be seen by the statistics - he hasn't been sent off once this season and has been booked less than 10 times. He is also the subject of one of the best chants that Luton fans have thought up this season.

Marlon Beresford: The fans favourite was presented with a Special Achievement award for his services to football (and LTFC in particular, presumably). If one signing could change the outcome of a season, then the signing of Marlon Beresford would be that signing. Barnsley, for some unknown reason, let him go after poaching him from us last season and he took the opportunity to rejoin us. Luton fans see him as the best keeper the club have had since Kelvin Davis and Ian Feuer (which isn't much of an achievement really) and has let in less than one goal a game this season (which is much of an achievement)

Cherry Newbery: The Club Secretary was given a special mention for her services to the club. Cherry was particularly instrumental in driving the evil John Gurney out of the club two years ago.

Other rumours going around last night were that Luton have had a bid for on loan striker Rowan Vine rejected by Portsmouth, and that Steve Howard is going to stay rather than leave when his contract expires (again thanks to lutonfc.com for publishing these rumours)

The official Hatters MAD award winners will be announced tomorrow afternoon. Unlike the official awards, the players don't get any shiny trophies, but they will have the honour of me heaping praise on them.
